1930's Nestlé Show Card, (Lithograph)

You can see this beautiful example of an advertising show card at the V&A. It was produced in the 1930's by Nestlé and is currently on show in an exhibition of chocolate packaging and paraphenalia.
I think I was born in the wrong era. Chocolatastic!

More Graphis - Graphis 120, (1965)

Look at these beauties from the great Strasbourgian Tomi Ungerer. Fig. 17, (soldier with machine gun) is unbelievable!
One of the greats who melts the distinctions of fine and commercial arts.
One who fuses biting social commentary with harmless fun.

Graphis Magazines

Lordy!Lordy!
My brother, (who is in construction) recently handed me a box of old Graphis magazines, (circa 1962-1965) which had been thrown away during a recent school demolition. He saw the covers and thought I might appreciate them.
Indeed I do. I am slowly thumbing through them with great delight licking my lips all the way.
These two images are taken from a double page spread from Graphis 109, a feature on illustrator Francis Deransart.
Graphic wit with an 'angel delight' lightness of touch. Delicious!

Champagne & Cocktails

Hot off the press 2: Toilet signage/wallpaper for trendy club/bar. I will be taking this to screenprint very soon.
I am growing increasingly intrigued with the idea of collaborating with other designers/craftspeople/artisans in rendering certain designs in alternative mediums, (ie not just for print). Could the below signs be rendered in ceramics? Glass? Precious metal?
Step forward if you are interested...

My debut with Debut Art

I have recently joined illustrators agent Debut Art.

New Website

It will be my 20th anniversary working in illustration this year and so alongside showing brand new work I have created a new site hosting many past commissions making up the online portfolio of imagery.
Much of my work has always derived from an editorial market so would have only been seen at the time of print. Its nice to upload these images to get an overview of the work.

Judging Victoria & Albert Illustration Awards

I was kindly invited recently by Martin Flynn, (the illustration awards manager at the V&A) to judge this years student awards alongside last years winner, Sarah Carr.
Sarah and I have been simultaneously looking through and judging this years student entries and pleased to say that the standard was extremely good.
We both met with Martin at the V&A last Monday 7th March to agree our winning finalists.

The winners will be revealed on 6th June at the awards ceremony - good luck to all of you who entered!
